audiartПолезла я сегодня в эти ваши интернеты искать информацию о Леонарде Хиосском, католическом епископе, который присутствовал при падении Константинополя и оставил подробное описание этого события. В википедийной статье "Leonard of Chios" информации не переизбыток, но там, в частности, написано следующее:
The Byzantine Emperor Constantine XI had sent a request to the pope, asking that efforts be made to effect a union between the Latin and 'Greek' (Orthodox) Churches: for this purpose Leonard was selected to accompany Isidore, Cardinal Bishop of Sabine, to Constantinople. Some degree of success was attained through their efforts and a treaty was ratified in December, 1452. However, the Latins refused to provide large scale aid to the Byzantines, and in the following year Leonard witnessed the devastation of the city as the Ottoman Turks took the city, led by the Sultan Mehmed II "the Conqueror".
Под статьей стоит единственная ссылка, которая ведет к одноименной статье в "Католической Энциклопедии". Если пройти по этой ссылке, то обнаружится, что статья в Википедии практически дословно дублирует статью в "КатЭн" (благо, та давно уже в public domain, так что такое её использование вполне допустимо). Вот только процитированный выше фрагмент в оригинальном варианте выглядит так:

Кстати, если кто-то хочет по этому поводу поругать Википедию, то лучше не надо. С учетом всего, что я знаю об осаде Константинополя, реальным фактам соответствует именно то, что написано в Вики. Просто с источниками непорядок, надо их как-то переоформить, я только пока не придумала, как.
